Lands of love - A gourmet white from Limoux

Terres Amoureuses. The evocative name promises a great taste discovery, just like its golden yellow color. A promise kept for this white Limoux from the Antugnac estate, in a region best known for its sparkling wines.

Which is a shame because its white wines have attractive fruity and floral bouquets. The blend of Chardonnay (85%) and Mauzac gives a wine with aromas of ripe fruit, flowers with hints of spices. These aromas are found on the palate, generous and with good length. The cuvée can accompany a whole meal if it consists of foie gras, fish or poultry with cream followed by goat cheese.

The vineyard of Château d'Antugnac, about fifty kilometers south of Carcassonne, is located in the Haute Vallée de l'Aude, at an altitude of 400 m, facing the Pyrenees.
The vines benefit from a microclimate which allows a long period of maturation. The yield is deliberately reduced to 40 or even 50 hl per ha.
Six different terroirs allow interesting blends. The wine is aged on fine lees in barrels until the month of June following the harvest.
The estate was taken over in 1997 by two Mâconnais winegrowers, Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier, seduced by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, two grape varieties they know well, on a Mediterranean terroir. The two families, who created the Domaine des Deux Roches in Davayé in Burgundy in 1985, work the vines with respect for nature. Part of the Antugnac estate is also undergoing organic conversion.
