If the AOC Pomerol is one of the smallest appellations of Bordeaux, it is nevertheless one of the most famous. Oddly, the appellation is not part of the 1855 classification. This does not prevent its wines from being among the best like Petrus, one of the rarest (and moste expensive) wines!
Merlot is the king grape variety of Pomerol as its clay soils allow it to express all its aromas. Wine connoisseurs appreciate these marvelous wines altogther elegant and opulent with a bouquet that combines aromas of ripe red berries with fresh floral notes.

Dating back to 1589, the Château du Domaine de l'Eglise is the oldest in this famous parish and its vineyard sits in the shadow of the Pomerol bell tower.
After being sold as church property in 1793, it was passed on by inheritance and remained in the same hands for a long time. The Castéja family bought it in 1973.
