It was in Algiers, in 1872, that the brothers Pascal and Léandre Gras decided to market the recipe for anisette that had been developed for generations by their family. Much appreciated in its country of origin, Anisette GRAS quickly crossed the Mediterranean and reached France, where it enjoyed the same success. At the beginning of the 20th century, FLORANIS conquered the “All of Paris”: it is even said that Toulouse-Lautrec would have been unfaithful to his legendary absinthe for her. First called ANIS GRAS, a name that its most loyal consumers still use today, it then took the name FLOR DE ANIS and then FLORANIS. Like its recipe, the FLORANIS bottle, with its emblematic square shape, has remained identical since its creation. Having kept all its charm of yesteryear, its label brings us back to the origins of Anisette GRAS and bears the many awards obtained over the years.
Made from star anise according to a unique recipe handed down since 1872, FLORANIS is devoid of any coloring or additives. It is one of the white aniseed varieties, without the presence of liquorice, unlike pastis. FLORANIS displays a robe of crystalline transparency. It offers a fine nose reminiscent of anise and a lovely freshness that lingers on the palate. FLORANIS is traditionally served in water with a few ice cubes. It also goes very well with mint or grenadine syrup. To celebrate its 150th anniversary, FLORANIS makes summer sparkle: In a large glass filled with ice cubes, pour 2 cl of Floranis, 10 to 12 cl of sparkling water. Add a dash of orgeat syrup. Mix gently.
