Located in Languedoc between Carcassonne and Narbonne, the terroir of Domaine de L'Ostal leans against the slopes of the Petit Causse, at the foot of the Montagne Noire. On this great terroir, the estate produces wines that illustrate the richness and power of local terroirs. Cultivated since Antiquity, this terroir is distinguished by a particular microclimate: the very sunny days contrast with the cool winds blowing down from the ridges. This alternation of hot and cool air is conducive to regular ripening of the grapes.
In 2002, the Cazes family bought two neighboring properties: Vipur and La Gardiole in order to create an area of 150 hectares, including 60 hectares of vines and 25 hectares of olive trees. She chose a name steeped in meaning and history: "L'Ostal", which in the old langue d'oc designates both the house and the family group that inhabits it. 24 ha are covered with pine forest, moors, scrubland. Without forgetting the fields of cereals cultivated in Organic Agriculture.
The estate is home to a very rich biodiversity and in 2019 obtained level 3 "High Environmental Value" certification, thus enhancing its agro-ecological commitment around four indicators: protection of biodiversity, management of fertilization, control of water resources and reduction of phytosanitary treatments.
In 2021, the property begins its conversion to Organic Farming.
