Maison Bestheim is recognized for the quality of its Alsace crémants. It has just released a new luxury vintage.
Latest edition : 05 November 2023
The Alsatian cellar Bestheim surprises connoisseurs with its “Balade Olfactive”, a new version of its Crémant Grand Prestige (2013), which, according to the house's oenologists, represents the perfect symbiosis between a favorite terroir, the Strangenberg, a limestone hill which overlooks the Vallée Noble, and a unique grape variety, pinot blanc.
It is not every year that such a vintage sees the light of day and it took three years for cellar master Christophe Adam and his assistant Paul Andres to believe that they were in the presence of a very great wine.
After the harvest in 2013, the vintage evolved gently for more than eight years on slats before disgorging, until it reached maturity, in order to refine the quintessence of Pinot Blanc. Without malolactic fermentation, the wine has retained its integrity and great freshness.

Olfactory walk
If the Bestheim cellar produces a whole range of different Crémants d’Alsace which are also sold in large retailers, it also excels in producing excellent vintages. In 2016, the “Grand Prestige Rosé” vintage 2014 was rewarded with gold at the international competition of the best sparkling wines in the world. It won first place among the 540 samples (including champagnes) from 24 countries.
A success which encourages the winegrowers to go ever further in their quest for excellence, to show that they also know how to create “very high fashion” crémants.
If the cellar produces between 6 and 7 million bottles of Crémant d’Alsace each year, the Grand Prestige cuvée is only available in 1,170 bottles!
To put it in the spotlight, and reach customers who are looking for a “different experience” of tasting, the cellar has approached the Strasbourg perfume house Serena Galini. The objective: to reproduce the terroir of Strangenberg and Crémant Grand Prestige in perfumes. A challenge taken up with enthusiasm by Nina and David Weiss: “Despite its size, Bestheim has managed to maintain a family spirit,” they believe. This unusual request required numerous visits to Strangenberg as well as tastings. The result, a delicate olfactory stroll in five stages, from Strangenberg to Crémant.
The aromas of Dry Earth, Vine, Vine Flower, Grape Bunch, Crémant are available in five small vials inserted in a box.
Every aspect of which has been thought through. The color code of Bestheim (midnight blue enhanced with gold impressions) illustrates the Strangenberg terroir. The bottle label tells the story of the five perfumes and the pentagonal graphics symbolizee the balance and harmony of the five perfumes; the discreet circles in the background of the label recall the fine effervescence of crémant.
It’s a real visual invitation to take the time to explore the world of flavors and sensations contained in each bottle before taking the pleasure of tasting it.
