The Petit Ducru of Ducru-Beaucaillou 2020 comes from a selection of the property's vineyards in Saint-Julien. It is presented as an initiation to the “Borie brand” to lead the lover of good wines towards the two other great wines of the estate, Ducru-Beaucaillou and La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. The Petit Ducru 2020 is aged for twelve months in Bordeaux barrels, 30% of which is new wood and the balance in wine barrels.
The 2020 vintage marks the tercentenary of Ducru-Beaucaillou (known until 2018 under the name Château Lalande-Borie). A remarkable vintage thanks to favorable summer weather, hot and dry, with scattered but sufficient precipitation in the second half of august. In september, clear days and cool nights allowed the grapes to complete their ripening in optimal conditions.
With less than a thousand hectares of vines, Saint-Julien is the smallest appellation in the Médoc vineyard, between Pauillac and Margaux. But it has 11 classified growths, which represents 80% of the appellation. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, second Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the essential references in the Bordeaux region. It is Bruno-Eugène Borie who does everything possible to realize dreams of excellence and to create wines of emotion.
