Mas de Libian in St-Marcel d’Ardèche on the right bank of the Rhône, at the very end of the Ardèche gorges, has belonged to the Thibon family since 1670. Their descendant, Gustave, continued to work the family land during his father’s absence during the First World War when he was still a young boy. Subsequently, he preferred philosophy to working the land. Fortunately for wine lovers, Jean-Pierre, one of his sons, and his wife Jacqueline, devote themselves entirely to the vine. They worked from the beginning with organic farming, and, since 2005, using biodynamics.
Their three daughters, Hélène, Catherine and Cécile share their passion for the vine. While Cécile works in oenological research in Bordeaux, her sisters settled in Mas de Libian.
Nestor, a magnificent Comtois draft horse, and Bambi, plow the vines which today occupy 25 ha. Added to this are 8 ha of fertile land with olive trees, cereals, beehives, and a garden.
The range of wines from the Libian estate includes 4 reds, 1 white and 1 white.
