Few are the hotels where youdo mmediately feel so expected, greeted with a smile and kindness as if you were coming home!
The Bareiss has that effect! A smile seems to be a mandatory condition to work there! Its five superior stars do not make it an establishment of ostentatious luxury: here, no gold taps or other such fantasies, but a tasteful elegance in which everyone feels at ease.
In the lobby, backpackers with rucksacks and elegant hosts come together to taste the three-star cuisine of Claus-Peter Lumpp, one of Europe's best cooks.
Others prefer to dine in the "Dorfstuben", a traditional restaurant with typical mountain inn decor. The atmosphere is warm and the menu offers regional specialties.
The third place to delight the taste buds is the table d'hôte offered in several small rooms for more privacy.
Without forgetting the large room with its fireplace where it is good to be tempted by the opulent buffet of "café-cakes" dear to the Germans (and appreciated by foreign holidaymakers).
The gastronomic offer is therefore vast and is supplemented by a delicious snack at midnight. You never know, someone might still be hungry! And a few short hours later, the tables are again set for a sumptuous breakfast, served until 11:30 am.
It is therefore essential to exercise a maximum ’in the swimming pools, the fitness room and, above all, by taking the many hiking trails that start from the hotel’s vast park. Some of which lead to the Morlokhof farm (where coffee-cake is served some afternoons) and to the Sattelei refuge whith snacks and other small dishes typical of the region ...
This well-thought-out, elegant hotel is the work of a family.
Hermine Bareiss, whose bronze bust stands in the lobby, is at the origin of the establishment. When she opened the small hotel "Kurhotel Mitteltal" with six rooms in 1951, she certainly did not imagine that her son Hermann would turn it into a world-famous grand hotel.
Young war widow, mother of two children, excellent cook and pastry chef, accomplished hostess, Hermine Bareiss succeeded in making her small hotel an address sought after by holidaymakers. So much so that she quickly had to think about expanding.
During this time, her son learned the job in France. Not easy for a young German to assert himself in Paris! But his charisma and professionalism have allowed him to gain ground and make his way. From these years, he has retained his love for France and he is deeply involved in Franco-German friendship. As proof: the big tricolor party that he organizes every July 14, the french national day, a moving celebration where the two national anthems unite hearts. In 2007, he was awarded the insignia of Chevalier in the french order of the Legion of Honor for his merits in the service of Franco-German friendship.
Hermann Bareiss always knew that one day he would take over the family hotel. Yet his mother’s call came far too soon for his liking, there were still so many countrieshe wished to discover! But in 1966, Hermine Bareiss could no longer manage everything on her own.
With the return of the son, the hotel experiences development and growing success. The "Kurhotel Mitteltal" becomes "Le Bareiss", one of the best hotels in Germany, named "Best Resort in Europe" in 2012. A luxury hotel where a family and friendly spirit reigns.
The Bareiss is the perfect place for a “three-generation” reunion. Intelligent thinking has led to the creation of a veritable little village for young visitors.
The "Villa Kunterbunt" is reserved for children, as are the trailer and the tree house. Perfectly supervised, they play, cook, eat, dream….
Teens - and even young adults - have a blast in another building with billiards, internet cafe, table football, darts, TV room, internet cafe, etc. During the school holidays, an extensive program of activities and outings for different age groups allows everyone to experience unforgettable moments.
During this time, parents or grandparents take advantage of the vast spa. Several swimming pools offer a great diversity: indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor seawater pools, paddling pool for children, and, in summer, a natural swimming pond.
Seeking for wellness, we surrender ourselves without hesitation to the expert hands of the spa team. Medical masseuse and physiotherapist provide appropriate care to relieve minor ailments that can plague us everyday, such as the - almost - unavoidable back pain.
A wide range of massages and specialized applications provide deep well-being. The only problem is having to choose between the different methods and products, all of which are of high quality.
To recommend, a massage with a product of the brand "Spa-Manufaktur". The products are handmade in Germany. Rose oil is perfect for the skin, lavender helps with relaxation. It has a detox effect with mountain herbs and revitalizing with Moroccan orange. You can also enjoy exclusive treatments by Gertraud Gruber, a pioneer in global cosmetics. It is best to discuss with the team to determine a personalized program. And so as not to make anyone jealous, the team also offers massages for children aged 3 to 14 as well as for men.
In the beauty center, as throughout the establishment, the emphasis is on well-being and authenticity rather than sophistication and design.
The rooms, apartments and suites are spacious and comfortable. Here too, no flashy luxury but comfortable furniture, beautiful fabrics. Throughout the house, we do not see the signature of a fashionable architect but we can feel the soul of Hermann Bareiss who, now with his son Hannes, oversees the future development of this formidable Relais & Chateaux.
