"Les Eygats" is an exceptional terroir situated at an altitude of 250 meters, composed of terraces of decomposed granite (known locally as Gore). Syrah vines have flourished here for over 35 years, benefiting from a superb east/southeast exposure. The grapes are harvested by hand. The wine is aged for 18 months in new oak barrels (one-third) and barrels that have held wine once or twice (two-thirds). Everything is in place to create a great wine, crafted for aging and special occasions.

Grape variety:
Syrah

Eye:
Dark dress with purple highlights

Nose:
Spices and smoky notes

Palate:
Round, full-bodied, with aromas of dark fruit and cherries.

Food pairings:
Ideal with slow-cooked meats (Provençal stew, braised beef cheek), game, or duck breast, accompanied by mushrooms. Surprisingly good with chocolate desserts.

Domaine Courbis in Châteaubourg, south of the Saint-Joseph appellation, is said to be one of the most reliable producers in the Northern Rhône Valley, renowned particularly for its Cornas and Saint-Joseph wines. The estate's origins date back to the 17th century, but it wasn't until the mid-20th century that viticulture became the primary activity, after a period of mixed farming. Maurice Courbis, and later his sons Laurent and Didier, gradually abandoned the orchards to dedicate themselves to cultivating vines. The vines cling to the steep slopes overlooking the Rhône River. Today, the estate covers 40 hectares. A truffle oak grove completes the estate's heritage.

The estate produces 15 wines in the appellations of the northern Rhône valley: Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Saint-Péray and Crozes-Hermitage.
